QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Awakening From Hibernation
July 6, 2006Launch Radio Networks reports: QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE is in the preliminary stages of work on the band's fifth studio album, according to NME.com. Singer and guitarist Josh Homme told the British music magazine, "We're back in the studio, writing." But Homme refused to say which musicians were involved in the writing process, adding, "That's not a healthy question. You'll ruin the surprise. We've gotta keep our cool." QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE has had a shifting lineup since the band's early days, with the group undergoing a major overhaul on its last album, 2005's "Lullabies To Paralyze".
Homme's other group, the EAGLES OF DEATH METAL, released its second album, "Death By Sexy", earlier this year. Homme, who plays drums in the outfit, has been touring on and off with them.
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's most recent live shows were two gigs as openers for the ROLLING STONES in Las Vegas and California last March.
